Diagnostic Labs

Rapid Flu Test
Ordered if influenza is suspected, particularly during flu season or in high-risk patients.
Throat Culture
Performed to rule out streptococcal (strep) throat infection, which requires antibiotic treatment.
COVID-19 Test
Ordered when clinical suspicion or exposure history warrants screening for SARS-CoV-2.

Treatment Options

Rest & HydrationAdequate rest and fluid intake support the immune system and help speed recovery.

Over-the-Counter Pain ReliefAcetaminophen or ibuprofen to reduce fever and relieve body aches and sore throat discomfort.

Nasal Decongestants or AntihistaminesHelp relieve nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing.

Cough Syrup or LozengesSoothe throat irritation and suppress persistent cough.

Antiviral MedicationsMay be prescribed if influenza is diagnosed and caught early — most effective within the first 48 hours of symptom onset.

Follow-Up Guidance

Seek follow-up if symptoms persist If symptoms worsen or last longer than 10 days, or if fever persists beyond 3–5 days, please follow up with a healthcare provider.
Return immediately if breathing difficulties arise Shortness of breath, wheezing, or a sudden worsening of symptoms — especially in older adults, young children, or immunocompromised individuals — warrants prompt evaluation.
